Abstract: Three local species of oysters were studied in the Vava'u Island Group, Tonga, to determine their potential for food-farming. These species were Saccostrea cucculata, Pinctada radiata, and Chama iostoma. The study included monitoring relevant environmental parameters, spat collection trials, measuring growth rates, and monitoring the condition factor and reproductive phase of the adult oysters.
